To Wikis or not Wikis
You know the more i learn about this stuff the more i am just so not interested. I wonder how soon before the internet is replaced by something eles , i feel that there is a widening gap between internet society and the unconnected society, think about it there is that email that goes around about how many people have access to the basics of life, i think they take 100 people and of that maybe 2 have access to all the comforts that the western world rely on. Globally i think that this style of webbing is divisional. I know I know a bit contreversial but hey so is my spelling.
Again with the Wikis - it is just reading other peoples opinions, we may have access to other opinions in this way that are not dominated by the media and external forces, but again you are relying on an unknown identity. Is the wikis just the same as when all the priests and pope got together to form the King James Bible - a decision was made about what went in and what went out. Are Wikis just the same - we decide what to put a a reputable webpage, link to a wiki contains what we think is good. to me and i could be way off base here people had problems accessing libraries when they are a majority of paper format, they are still having those same issues with the electronic. I think a nice dig in the garden is a better option. Get some fresh air.

Perspectives on Web 2.0
I want my blanket! There is something to be said for Giles, Watcher and School librarian whose comment ont he introduction of a computer in his library - i don't like them they don't smell. Where is the ambience of library on the web - i mean the physical. the comfy chair, the smell of books, the curling up with a good story, being able to actually touch and trace the maps of old with your finger tips. Instead we are now expected to connect to people via wires, sit on a compture chair and tap away at a computer to discover. What happened to the adventure of discovery, oh it is great to have the information at your fingertips but where is the excitement of the chase, the indianna jones exploration of the world. Where is the connection, not electronic. Having read the three articles on the Web 2.0 i would question especially in our area just how many of our community are using these facillities, we are trying to help a community that has poor english skills, connect to their new australian communities, people whose language and writting skills may be non existence even in their own language. So how does the virtual world or web 2.0, 3.0 or even 4.0 help them.
On a library front, will we ever shake the traditional view of libraries, they seem to be more program based now, not a collection of Just In Case martials. The ice bergs are out there but maybe we are looking at the wrong ice bergs. - Again i reiterate I want my Blanket!

Rollyo - a listy type of tool
Aren't these electronic lists good, instead of printing it all out you just keep creating more and more lists. Still think that i could sniff the stuff out before the computer with my beagle nose, however given that this is training i will give it ago honey out
Rollyo - very listy
Yep got a sniff of Rollyo - not bad not bad still think that i could sniff out the manga stuff much quicker with my beagle nose than the computer. Question does the list date quickly given the amount of tech changes and information changes. one to ponder under the tree while i stalk those doves.
